The guides

When it comes down to it, guides have the final say on what does, and doesn't go on in chat.  By chatting in Olichat in the first place, you've agreed to follow the chats rules.  ( Consider the chat my house.  I get to decide who I let in... :p )  I've picked all the guides myself, and while I'm certain they're doing a good job, I'll still be keeping an eye on them.  If you think you've been severely mistreated by a guide, you can e-mail me at Sysop@olichat.com  and I will look into it if I believe there is reason to.  That doesn't mean you should e-mail me with small complaints on how "unfair" guides are.   If you make a foolish comment, and a guide calls you a dork, that is NOT a good reason to send a complaint e-mail.  On the other hand, if your account suddenly disappears, you don't know why, and you can't create a new one, that IS a good reason to send a e-mail.

Now, how strict a guide is depends on several things.  Different people look at things differently, and guides are no exception.  It also depends on which room you are in.  (which I will explain later on)  Don't go asking to become a guide yourself.  That is the fastest way to make sure you will never become a guide.  I feel the current amount of guides are sufficient.  If a new guide is needed, one will be sought out.

And about the background, I've had more than enough comments about it, I will get those who do not respect it.^^
 

Current Guides

Below is a list of the current guides.  Guides DO change every so often, so this list is subject to change.  If you have a problem, or a question while chatting, look for one of these people.  They should be able to help you out. Below is a list of each guide's main handle:

User ID & handles

Every user is allowed one User ID.  For every User ID, you can create 20 handles.  (Which should be more than enough for anyone.)  The chat's server space is limited, so please DO NOT create more than one User ID.  Also, more than one person should not use the same User ID.  It is both confusing and annoying, and such ID's will likely be removed as a result.

As for handles, you are free to create almost any handle you want.  With the exception of handles done in very "bad taste". (Guides will be the final authority on what will be considered "in bad taste")  Also, you cannot use a handle that is meant to offend or insult someone.  So don't go creating handles with words like "sex" or "Taliban" in them.  If such a handle is created, you will likely be asked to delete it, or it will be removed by a guide. Note that the tag is part of the handle. Do not use other people's name or handles in your handle or tag unless you have their permission to do so.
 

Avatars

All avatars are to be 64x64 pixels in size!!  If you use an avatar of another size, you will likely be asked to remove it, or it will be removed for you.  The maximum size of an avatar is 35 kilobytes.  If your AV is 2-3kb bigger than the max, most guides won't complain.  Don't overdo it though. If your av is a few kb over, and a guide DOES ask you to change it, please cooperate.  Olichat is pretty liberal when it comes to avatars, but there are limits.  Hentai Avatars are allowed, but only for the Hentai Arena or the Nook.  If you use a Hentai AV in another room, you will be asked to switch to a different handle.  If your avatar is deemed too extreme, you will be asked to change it.  Don't try to be funny by using avatars with Bin Laden and such.  If a guide decides an avatar is too extreme or too offending, you will be asked to change it.  If you refuse, it may be removed for you.
 

Custom message tags

In the room listings of who is in, you will notice a short line of text under each handle.  This is your custom message.  You can use almost any message you want, cuss words aside.  You may not use the tags to insult other people.  You also cannot use your tag to act like you're a guide or sysop.  If you are found using an offensive or inappropriate custom tag, you will be asked to change it.  If you don't, it may be changed for you.
 

The rooms

No matter what room you're in, don't insult other people.

There are several different rooms for you to use in Olichat.  The number or names of rules may change now and then.  At the moment the only rooms are: The Parlor, the Backroom, the Bulletin Board, the Hentai Arena, the "About OC", and the Nook.  These names should stay as they are...but you never know.  Now lets take a quick look at each room.

The Parlor: Behave yourself in here.  Don't head to the Parlor if you're looking for a fight, role or not.  Also avoid annoying people, as guides are allowed to be VERY strict in here.  No swearing in the parlor. If a guide does ask you to stop though, please do so.  Also, you cannot use Hentai AV's in here.  When posting pictures, keep the size under 200kb, and don't post anything with offensive content.  Do not post too many pictures in a row...try to keep it three in a row max.

The Backroom:  Things are more relaxed here.  This is a good room to just sit back and chat in.  Guides are less strict, though the will still enforce several rules; no Hentai AV's, only light swearing (keep the F-word out), no abusive language and keep the pic posting size under 200kb. Of course if a guide asks you to watch your language or pics, please do so. You're free to post a lot more here, but for the chatter that still thinks that isn't enough, there's the Hentai Arena.

The Bulletin Board: This is where you leave messages for people that aren't on-line.  However, DO NOT CHAT HERE!  Try to keep things polite on the BB.  Also try to avoid useless posting, or posting three times in a row.  If a guide deems your post to be inappropriate, it will be removed.

The Hentai Arena: I'd like to say "anything goes" for the Hentai Arena, but that isn't true.  You are allowed to post pics far more freely than in any other room.  However, if you are going to post porn or hentai, please post a link with a description.   Pics of slightly adult nature should be fine, but if you're not sure ask a guide.  If a guide isn't in, try to be polite, and ask the other chatters in the room if they mind.

Even though you're free to post a lot more in the Hentai Arena, try to keep things friendly.  If someone is posting things you don't want to see or read, use the "Ignore" and/or "Turn off image display" options of the chat.

"About OC" : This board is for Guides only.  Here they can leave comments for each other.

The Nook: Well, there really aren't many rules for the nook, since noboday but the person you invite can see what is posted.  So in the end, it's up to you what is or isn't allowed in there!   One thing though; when you invite someone to the Nook, don't click on your own invitation - that won't work.
 

Bugs

Obviously, no chat is bug free.  That is too bad, but what's worse is when someone is childish enough to abuse a bug.  If someone is found abusing a bug, they will be asked to stop.  If they do not, they will be booted.  If you see someone abusing a bug, e-mail me at Sysop@olichat.com and I will look into it.
 

As a final and somewhat personal rule, I will not tolerate any of that crap9 business.
